WELCOME to the NEW Gainesville Haymarket Baseball League (GHBL)

In order to provide the youth of our community with an improved baseball experience the Membership Committee has decided to establish an affiliation with the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Baseball Leagues for the 2012 season.  This change will allow league players to take the next step in developing their baseball skills and prepare them for the transition to the 90 foot field.

Along with this change we are also planning to add a number of new programs that will enhance the baseball experience and development for all of our players, managers and coaches.  The league has teamed with the Snyder Baseball Academy of Haymarket, VA, to assist and support the development programs for the 2012 season.  The development programs are:

  • Majors/Minors Coaching Clinics
  • Player training clinics
  • Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth adult & youth umpire training certification

The Snyder Baseball Academy staff will be available to provide valuable support for league members by providing access to valuable instructional video clips located on their new website. These instructional videos will enable parents to reinforce, at home, what is being taught to their sons and daughters on the field.

We are also in the process of completing various upgrades to our facilities.  These upgrades will include additional batting cages at Catharpin Park for additional practice and pre-game warm-up opportunities, bleachers for all of the fields at Catharpin Park and a new concession stand at James Long Park.  The Prince William County Park Authority has also already begun the process of upgrading many of our playing fields for next season and has plans for many more improvements in the future.

With improvements taking place across the entire league we are looking forward to another successful Spring season and would like to encourage everyone to register their son or daughter right away.
